The Liberal Democrats policies

The liberal democrats manifesto covers all area's of issues within today's society and The United Kingdom. Some of these issues include stuff like wanting everyone to have enough money to live a good life and giving children a better education.

The manifesto is too large in itself to go over all of it completely so I will refer back to my quiz results and specifically go over the categories I aligned with the most compared to what the different political parties follow.

Referring back to the quiz i took, my results show that the issues I agreed on with the Liberal Democrats the most is the Social and Education categories. See here -

What do the Liberal Democrats stand for in terms of Education?

In terms of education, the Liberal Democrats stand for a lot of different topics. They believe that children should have a good education and that since they have been in government there have

been improvements, for example, there is more money for children who need the most help. Stated in their manifesto.

On top of this, the Liberal Democrats aims and goals are to improve education across the board for younger people. The Liberal Democrats want to:

  • Make sure that all teachers are qualified and teach the National Curriculum.
  • Spend more money on childcare, schools and education for 16 to 19 year olds.
  • Have more free nursery places for children
  • Make sure every child can read by the time they go to secondary school.

Personally, I agree with all these plans and goals which have been set. I believe strongly in that the UK should make sure that all teachers are qualified and can teach the National Curriculum as in the past I have had to deal with teachers being inefficient at teaching and generally not being able to control a classroom.

What do the Liberal Democrats stand for in terms of Social policies?

The manifesto itself does not have a category for social policies but can be found in a lot of different area's and sections. One i'd like to point out right off the bat is how the Liberal Democrats stand for equality and think that people should have the right to have privacy and say what they think. They also believe everybody should be treated the same whatever their background and circumstances.

With young people, the Liberal Democrats believe that they should have the opportunity to be the best that they can, promising things such as:

  • Double the numbers of businesses who take on apprentices
  • Reduce travel costs so young people can get to school and work
  • Spend more money on mental health services so young people get help closer to their home
The liberal Democrats also take awareness to pensions and older people where they think that older people and the way people are treated, shows how fair society is.

Other plans include:
  • Make sure 9 million people join a workplace pension
  • Make pensions better so more people have one
  • Change laws so pensions go up in value
