Poster on a specific visual language element

Below is a poster that I have created on a visual language element. The visual language elements are what make up a system of visual communication methods which make up a form of language when coupled with principles in the mind of artist.

Here is every visual language element listed:

  • Line - The line is an edge of a shape or form or the direction in which anything will by followed by in motion.
  • Value - Value refers to the lightness or darkness, it gives depth to what would be a bland object, a strong contrast in value makes it so the artist can create emphasis.
  • Colour - Colour is light which has been reflected from a surface. This is capable of creating emotions, movement and emphasis alongside a lot of other things such as unity and harmony.
  • Texture - This is an element which is relatively close to our sense of touch. Texture can create such things as emotion, movement and pattern.
  • Shape - Shape is capable of creating most of the elements listed here, it is the enclosion of a two dimensional area. There are two types of shapes, organic which has curved edges and is continuous and also geometric which has sharp edges and angles.
  • Form - A three-dimensional area is enclosed by form and form can also cover under a volume as well. Space, as well as light and dark values can be used to emphasise form.
  • Space - Space is an illusion of depth and space, space can be created by overlapping shapes or forms in front of each other or by making holes and cavities.
My poster in particular explores the idea of colour and what it means and what qualities colour may possess. Within this poster I went with the idea of displaying Every different primary colour and most secondary colours as I give a visual representation within the text for such things like value in colour. To achieve this, using value in colour as an example again, to create a visual representation of this I went with the idea of making a chosen colour start off light but get slightly darker as it goes along.
