Making a webpage out of my double page spread

Once the double page spread was made, we had to then convert it so it would be suitable for a webpage. To do this, we used the program Adobe Muse to recreate the double page spread but in the form of a webpage.

In my design I decided to keep it simple and went with following the traditional layout of an article online. The image below shows the completed webpage:

As you can see, I have laid out my webpage in such a way that it is easily readable to the viewers but still resembles the original design of the double page spread. For reference I will now show off the double page spread again and how it looks compared to that of the webpage I have created.

Further evidence of the webpage -
The following screenshot will provide evidence of the webpage made in Adobe Muse. I have included this as its important that its made clear that I have completed the task at hand.

Unfortunately its not possible to convert a website to a .PDF so this part of the task isn't actually possible. So instead, I have taken a full screenshot of the webpage and then put it into photoshop. I've done this because I can then export it into a .PDF via there.

Evaluation

This evaluation acts as a means to reflect upon and come up with potential improvements I could make if I was to do this project over again. I will analyse everything from the research and pre-production stage to the actual creation and making of the product.

To start with, I would like to expand on a comment in my evaluation for my last unit of work. Throughout the evaluation and whole of the last unit, I felt as if I wasn’t keeping track of time very well or keeping to a schedule and that, that would be a thing to improve on.

In this unit, keeping to a schedule was done and there were no problems with time keeping, hence actually finishing earlier than the deadline. There were no problems with this unit so far and I was able to keep motivated and working at a good pace the entire way through. Because of this, in the end I came to enjoy the topic and expanding on a a certain subject I felt passionate about.

Research within the unit was also done in a reasonable time frame where exploring the different avenues of what certain political parties agree with as well as taking a quiz to see what party policy in which I align to the most.

Another piece of research I enjoyed was going even further into political parties and what they stand for. Reading the manifesto of the party I most align to, allowed me to become more involved and shape my overall view of politics as a whole.

I think I worked well throughout the whole of my research, keeping on track and having a clear defined idea I wanted to expand on and learn more about to educate others later on. On top of this, going back into the history of protesting for political reasons, learning about visual language elements and the different types of newspapers were also enjoyable to learn about.

Moving onto where I started to plan out and begin the creation of my poster and double page spread, I started to slow down in the work being produced. The decision behind this was that I was so far ahead that I could afford to take my time and create something I liked and was proud of. Personally, I’m very familiar with software such as Photoshop, InDesign and Muse so I didn’t really find anything difficult or hard to produce.

For task two, I felt I did well with my issue and expanding upon it to raise awareness and make help keep others informed of my issue. However, in retrospect, being more careful with image selection and having properly resized images with no pixilation could be a thing I would improve on.

Making use of the guides and various tools on Photoshop helped for creating the poster immensely as I could move the guidelines about and fit everything to proportion, and with the editing of the photographs and images used, it was all something I had done before.

This lead to an enjoyable first part of task two where I then went on to create a double page spread about my issue. This used InDesign as well as the page layout guides I made beforehand which I followed to near exact. I did this because it made the whole making and creation of the spread a lot easier.

Converting my double page spread into a muse web page and then into a .PDF was just the same as in the digital communications project where we put all the work we did onto our website. Naturally this task only two a few minutes of work, applying a suitable background, reformatting and spacing everything properly as well as creating headers, subheadings etc

In conclusion I felt as if I did well on this assignment. Being able to explore and delve further into politics helped gather an understand about what its all about and the bigger issues at hand. Instead of being chosen something to write about, I had free choice of something I’m passionate about and can make something the way I wanted and in a way I’m proud of.
